What Will You Do? (#OurFather)

In Matthew 7, Jesus finishes his famous Sermon on the Mount -- love one another, don’t judge, don’t worry, walk the extra mile, turn the other cheek, and on and on. ?He concludes with the parable of the wise and foolish builder. ?Read Matthew 7:24-29, then return here.

The foolish builder heard Jesus’ words, and ignored them…

The wise builder heard Jesus’ words and PUT THEM INTO PRACTICE.?

It’s the only difference between the wise and the foolish. But it’s the difference. Jesus is teaching us a powerful truth – It’s what you do that makes a difference. ?

They both heard Jesus teaching. ?One compartmentalized. ?The other responded. ?One listened and walked away. One listened and applied.

Information plus application leads to transformation.

When you serve orphaned and vulnerable children, you experience a great deal. You see the hungry. You see the thirsty. You see pain and suffering.?

And all the while, our Father whispers into your  heart. Asking. Nudging. Inviting.

“The ultimate measure of a man (person) is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige, and even his life for the welfare of others.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

So what are you going to do?

It’s what you do that makes a difference. ?It's what you do that will make a difference for God. For others. For the needy. For the helpless. For the poor. For the orphan. For YOU.?

As we close this year of studying our Father's heart, we have three questions for you:

What have you experienced this year in serving the orphaned and vulnerable?

What has God been saying to you?

Now, what will you DO?
